At Mind Body Harmony, you’ll learn a range of holistic, evidence-based strategies for managing trauma symptoms. This 8-week online course offers practical tools and techniques to foster resilience, healing, and self-compassion.

Led by Patience Scarles, a qualified Yoga Teacher, Voice Coach, and Sound Healing Practitioner, and Sam Mitchell, an Integrative Psychotherapist and EMDR specialist with over 25 years of experience, the course provides expert guidance and a nurturing environment to support your healing journey.

Our integrated approach blends trauma-sensitive yoga, mindfulness, and somatic practices with psychotherapeutic support. You’ll also have the chance to connect with others on a similar path, building a sense of community and mutual support.

Ms. Sam Mitchell NZAP, PBANZ, EMDRAA Registered Integrative Psychotherapist, Dip Teaching, Cert Supervision, EMDR Specialist ACC Registered Provider, Supplier, and Assessor

Sam has been an ACC trauma therapist for 25 years, working with a wide range of clients in various settings. She is experienced in facilitating groups, trainings, seminars, and retreats. As an EMDR specialist, she works holistically and is known for her friendly, down-to-earth approach.

Patience Scarles Qualified Yoga Teacher, Voice Coach, and Sound Healing Practitioner

Based on Waiheke Island, Patience is passionate about creating nurturing and transformative spaces for deep healing and connection. She combines her expertise in yoga, sound, and voice to guide individuals toward emotional well-being, resilience, and self-discovery. Her compassionate and trauma-sensitive approach supports participants in reconnecting with their inner strength, fostering a safe environment for healing and finding peace within.

  • Mind-body practices, like yoga, breathwork, and sound healing, help regulate the nervous system, bringing a sense of calm and safety back to the body. These techniques can gently help you reconnect with yourself and manage symptoms in the present moment.

  • Each session combines trauma-sensitive yoga, sound healing, and therapeutic techniques to help you find calm and build resilience. You’ll engage in guided practices, group discussions, and learn practical tools to integrate into your daily life, all within a supportive and non-judgmental space.

  • The course runs for 8 weeks. Each session is 2 hours long, with 1 session per week.

  • No prior experience is required. Our program is designed for all levels, including beginners. The practices are trauma-sensitive, which means they are tailored to be gentle and adaptable to each individual’s needs and comfort.

  • We recommend wearing comfortable clothing. For some sessions, a yoga mat or similar surface may be needed for trauma-sensitive practices, and we’ll communicate this in advance. Please ensure you have a stable internet connection and a private, confidential space where you can safely engage in the body-based movements and therapeutic exercises.

  • In addition to your 2-hour weekly session, you'll receive video clips of practices, a workbook with space for journaling, and weekly homework to help integrate the learning into your life. During the calls, Sam will also be available for one-on-one support if needed.

  • The total cost of the course is $800. This can be paid in weekly instalments of $100. For more details on payment options, please refer to our Important Information section.

  • Trauma-sensitive means the practices are designed to be mindful of participants' emotional and physical safety. The facilitators offer modifications, and there's an emphasis on choice, making sure participants are not triggered or overwhelmed during the session.

  • No, this group focuses on the present moment and the techniques that can help you feel safe and grounded. While optional sharing is encouraged, the emphasis is on healing through the body and breath rather than recounting past events.

  • Yes, you can join the course while working with other therapists or counselors. We recommend discussing your participation with your current practitioner to ensure it complements your existing treatment.

  • You will be able to see the facilitators, but not the other participants. You’ll be visible to the facilitators, and during optional sharing, you can choose to have your camera on or off to protect your privacy. Additionally, we ensure that all online sessions are held in a secure, confidential environment.

  • If you miss a session, please let us know as soon as possible. We can provide recordings or alternative arrangements if needed, depending on the circumstances.

    • We will assess your suitability for the group together during our triage(pre-group) session.

    • You need a secure internet connection and a safe, confidential space to attend the group and room for you to practice some body-based movement (not suitable in a car).

    • You have not had a suicide attempt in the last 6 months.

    • You do not have active psychosis or other psychiatric conditions.

    • You can provide us with a confidential support person/safe person contact.
